About Me
Hi, I’m Portia. A journalist and a traveler.
I became a full-time traveler and a travel writer after quitting my job over a year ago. I started traveling on my own at an early age of 19.
I’m a Travel Blogger and your friendly neighbour from India who is always looking for new places to explore and stories to tell.
My travel plans focuses on first-hand experiences, people and emotions. I just don’t want to inform my readers or share practical details, but inspire them and make them want to pack their bags too!
And what was I doing until now?
Let’s put it this way, I have loved what I had been doing. Producing bulletins and special shows, writing, editing, reporting. I have a total work experience of 8 years in print, TV and digital.
For a TV journalist, I have been an active News Producer in the television media for over four years, print for another over two years more and online media for over a year and the adrenaline rush it gives is just unbelievable.
My career began with subbing copies from North Bengal and Odisha (all regional) reporters and making pages at The Statesman, Kolkata and moving on to subbing and making pages for the Nation, International and Features pages.
As an individual, I adapt to any new circumstances and conditions by constantly updating myself to be able to survive in this highly competitive world and hence I am looking for something new constantly while I thrive to improve my existing skills, something that will challenge me even further.
In the near future, I want to see myself travelling across the globe to cover all kinds of human stories.
In my leisure time, I love to doodle, sketch, paint, read books or watch films.

Key Achievement
ï‚· Began my reporting career covering the sudden outburst of Meow Meow drug addiction in Mumbai after a year or so from the first introduction in to the party circuit. The impact of the story was such that the drug that wasn’t illegal got first banned in Maharashtra within a span of seven days and by the Centre in a months’ time.
That was an eye opener on how one should cover breaking news and be ready to work hard to get exclusives.
The Money Makeover with Gaurav Mashruwala show not only attracted a lot of young crowd to the world of personal finance but also made watching a short show on YouTube quite fun learning. The show also got recognized by the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE).Here’s a link: http://www.ncfeindia.org/videos/category/20
